Jail

The Scott County Justice Center opened in 2007. The Justice Center's detention facility has beds for up to 140 inmates. In addition to local prisoners, the jail also houses state prisoners through a contract between Scott County and the State of Tennessee.

Because the detention facility is located in the same building as Scott County's General Sessions and Criminal courts, inmates do not have to be transported for trials and court hearings.

A large garden behind the jail is maintained by supervised inmates. Vegetables grown in the garden are part of the meals served at the jail, helping to reduce the cost to taxpayers to feed prisoners.

COMMISSARY

Money may be deposited into inmates' commissary accounts in two ways.

1.) A commissary machine is located in the lobby near the visitation booths. Persons wishing to add commissary funds will need the jacket number of the inmate whose account they're adding money to. Jacket numbers can be obtained from the secretary. A $2.75 fee is charged by the commissary machine.

2.) Mail a cashier's check or money order in the name of the inmate to the Scott County Justice Center, 575 Scott High Drive, Huntsville, TN 37756 and note that the money is for commissary or a phone card.

VISITATION

Visitation is from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday through Sunday. Visits can be scheduled by calling 423-663-3111 after 6 p.m.
